Hi! We’re Sofia and Michael from Sweden, the family behind the Hello Potty Training program.

We began potty training our daughter Stella the same way many parents do; by putting her on the potty a few times per day with the hope of catching something.

Sure enough, every once in a while Stella did pee on the potty, but that was more luck than anything else. We couldn't see any signs that she had understood what the potty was for and why we put her there.

The weeks went by without much progress and we felt frustrated that we couldn't help her and didn't know what to do next.

So we decided to listen to our gut feeling instead.

You see, even though this is how most parents potty train today, our gut feeling told us that this approach wasn’t going to work. It didn’t make any sense and it didn't feel pedagogical. And it left us feeling lost and confused.

At this point our daughter Stella was confused too. The look in her eyes was begging us for clues on what to do and how to understand. All we wanted to do was to help her, but we didn’t know how.

And funnily enough, around this exact time, we were invited to dinner with some friends of ours. And the topic of potty training came up. Much to our luck!

Susanna and Stefano told us how they had potty trained their 2-year-old daughter, going from completely diaper-dependant to reliably dry in less than 2 weeks.

We had never heard anything like it, and at first it was very hard to believe that this could even be possible. But they kept explaining how it worked and it just made sense.

As the gentle and down to earth parents that we are, we could really relate to the approach. It was pedagogical and simple and made total sense. It felt like a breath of fresh air and our gut feeling told us that this approach was what we had been searching for.

So for the first time ever we felt that we had a plan that we believed in and that felt right for us.

And so we went home and created a positive learning experience for our daughter, one where she understood the process and was able to connect the dots.

And within a matter of days from starting she was diaper free and had mastered the basics of potty training! It was hard to believe how well it worked, but she has been diaper free ever since and we couldn't have been happier.

Since then everyone we've met have asked us how we did it.

A lot of people wanted us to write down our best tips and guidelines so that they can potty train their own children using the same principle. And that's how we came up with the idea for a potty training program.

We realized that what's missing today is a proven plan for parents to follow, allowing them to guide and help their child get rid of diapers in a gentle, respectful and positive way. And more importantly, to be able to adjust that plan so it fits their child's personality and their own parenting style perfectly.

We also discovered that there are a lot of myths and false information circulating regarding potty training. Information which causes children and parents to stay with diapers for far too long and make common mistakes along the way.

And at this point we had found our mission:

To help parents and children get rid of diapers in a gentle and effective way, and to inform parents about what is true and possible when it comes to potty training and debunk the biggest myths on the subject.

Our first step was to write a book about it.

We have now taken what once was a few hastily scribbled notes on a piece of paper, and developed it into a complete program.

It includes everything parents need to know for potty training their child with clarity, confidence and calm.

And at the time of writing our bestselling program has been tried and tested by more than 103 217 satisfied families.

The program is based on research from independent research reports, books and articles, and from talking to day care staff, parents, childcare experts and expert researchers themselves. It is also based on our own experiences from potty training our own children, and from coaching thousands of parents along their potty training journey.

There is a lot of time and hard work invested in this program and we are very happy with the result. We believe you will be too.
